Let's give the Skyline Restaurant at Ruckersville another try Sunday, April 4.

Eat at 9:00 AM
Ride at ~10:00 AM

The restaurant is located on US 29 north bound approximately 0.5 mile south of US 33. Note the return to earlier start time!

Route suggestions? How about heading north for a change.

Sounds good, Chuck. I'm there!

  • North on US-29 --> VA-621/VA-622 to Wolftown
  • VA-230 --> VA-657/658 to Ruth
  • VA-656 --> Ruth Rd/VA-651 to Banco
  • VA-231 to Sperryville
  • US-211 --> VA-669 to Morning Star
  • VA-669 --> VA-668 --> VA-671 --> VA-689 to Stanley and Alma
  • US-340 --> Newport Road --> Club Run Road to Greenwood
  • VA-602 --> US-33 --> Dyke Road to Nortonsville
  • Simmons Gap Rd. --> Plunkett Rd. --> Chapman Rd. --> Celt Rd. --> Advance Mills Rd --> Ruckersville
Just playing around with Google Maps and figured this might be a nice Sunday ride. Please feel free to tweak this route or suggest a totally different one to suit your cravings for twisties, scenery, etc. 8) Deviations (and deviants) :twisted: are welcomed. :lol:

Nice ride today, gents! Couldn't ask for better weather to explore all those back roads in Greene and Madison Counties. US-211 over the mountain to Luray was fun, as always. The Valley sure is nice this time of year. It's starting to get green over there, for sure.

After our stop at Elkton, Big Chris and I rode "briskly" back over the mountain on US-33, then turned south on Dyke Rd to Nortonsville. Simmons Gap Rd to Buzzard Hollow and Buffalo River Rd. Durrett Ridge, Advance Mills, Frays Mill, and Burnley Station Rd. Chris headed home as I turned north om Burnley Rd, then rode over to Gordonsville on 33 just to head north on 231 to Madison again--love that road! Explored a few more back roads east of Madison, and eventually meandered my way back to C'ville. All in all, an excellent Sunday ride to nowhere in particular.

Le'ts keep our fingers crossed for this sort of great weather next weekend too. Hope to see you all up on the Parkway Easter Sunday.
